Article to be Published
A few days ago I received word that the Rivard Report will publish my article about Doctor Urrutia. The article covers the current state of his once beautiful garden, Miraflores, and the significance of Urrutia's life in San Antonio (a subject I am focused on for the future).
Two years ago, May 23, 2014, marked the 100th anniversary of my great grandfather's arrival in the United States as a refugee from the Mexican Revolution. At that time, I thought I would write an article to commemorate the event. Although I had been exploring the family history with my father, and already had done a significant amount of research, I quickly came to the conclusion that I still didn't know enough. I tried to write an article, but I was so overwhelmed by the information I found in my research, that I simply shut down and took a break. Since that time, I have renewed my effort to learn about my family's arrival here in San Antonio. How did they get here? Why did they come? And why has all that they built nearly disappeared? The search has answered some questions and raised more.
