Author Anne Elise Urrutia will be joined by architect/anthropologist Eugen Logan Wagner Ph.D., FAIA in a conversation moderated by cultural historian Claudia Guerra to illuminate the historical and cultural significance of Miraflores and to explore motivations and challenges for future restoration as a public, educational, and garden space. Followed by a Q&A session, FREE and open to all participants, Saturday, May 13, 2023, 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon, in the Seddon Recital Hall at the University of the Incarnate Word.
Anne Elise Urrutia (www.quintaurrutia.com) is the great-granddaughter of Dr. Aureliano Urrutia and continues to devote significant time to researching and writing about his life and legacy. Dr. Wagner, born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, is the author, together with Hal Box and Susan Kline Moorhead, of “Ancient Origins of the Mexican Plaza: From Primordial Sea to Public Space” (University of Texas Press, 2013) and a practicing architect in Austin, Texas (www.alrifearchitects.com). Claudia Guerra is the cultural historian for the City of San Antonio’s Office of Historic Preservation and editor of “300 of Years of San Antonio and Bexar County” (Trinity University Press, 2019).
